Conclusion
History
Kingston was established in 1673 by Comte Louis de Buade de Frontenac. Kingston was apart of New France after Samuel De Champlain had found Quebec. It was established as a trading post for the Iroquois and Cataraqui nations. It was also once the capital of Canada. There is still a strong influence of French culture but has become diverse over the years. Immigration has led to a diverse group of citizens even though a majority are still French. Toronto and Montreal have an impact on Kingston. Kingston has a similar atmosphere to Toronto which has more of a business/busy atmosphere, but there is a connection to Montréals culture which has many francophone citizens. It has been named the limestone city because of the buildings made out of the limestone.
Living in Kingston
I would choose to live in Kingston because it is sustainable and liveable. They have good transportation, a good economy and a good climate. Kingston has many bicycle paths and have many buses running. The bicycle paths also lead to the many parks Kingston has. This will limit traffic and is better for the environment making it sustainable and liveable. Kingston has a good economy as well. They get their great economy from the nearby universities, the army base and the jail. The city is home to the Kingston Penitentiary. This employs citizens of Kingston and the inmates' families will most likely want to be closer to the prisoners and will want to move to Kingston meaning more money going into the economy. This will ensure jobs for future generations making it sustainable. Kingston has large bodies of water nearby that moderates the temperatures in the winter and summer. This moderated temperature makes Kingston liveable. Unfortunately they only have one high school but have an excellent university close by. Overall Kingston is a great place to live because of the social, economic and enviromental points. This is why I would live in Kingston.
